Teletherapy is a viable alternative.
The COVID pandemic caused therapists to meet with their clients virtually. Gone are the days when seeing your therapist meant going to an office or clinic. Now, teletherapy is the wave of the future and is here to stay!
We all remember the commercial with Michael Phelps, the Olympic swimmer, advertising for ‘Talk Space’ therapy. At that time, you may have felt unsure if it works or that it would feel plain weird.
The good news is that teletherapy is as effective as face-to-face therapy in most cases. AND you can schedule your session from the comfort of your home on your time and terms.
There are no more transportation hassles, worrying if you will be late or miss an appointment, or worrying about seeing someone you know in the waiting room.
As a therapist, I have found that patients reveal more private information when sharing it online.
The process is straightforward.
I conduct 45-minute remote teletherapy sessions over Zoom for long-term and in-depth therapy work, often involving two sessions per week.
The Zoom link is HIPPA compliant to ensure confidentiality. Before each session, you will receive an invited link in your email. Click on the invite link and open the session. In addition to Zoom, you will need a camera and microphone on your device.
You should arrange for a quiet space free from disturbances. This space may be in your car, office during lunch break, or the privacy of your home.
Connection issues can occur from time to time, but they are rare. For example, you may need to repeat yourself, but this also can occur during in-person therapy. If connection issues feel too disruptive, switching to phone therapy is a good alternative.
Try a new experience via teletherapy.
Video therapy and phone therapy provide a much more intimate experience than you may expect. And both work exceptionally well!
Over half of my clients have never had therapy with me in person and are fine with that.
I look forward to “seeing” you over Zoom! Contact me today.
